Pastels
In 2005 Bewick revisited Paris, beginning a new phase of working in pastels. “For the very large paintings, I use the reverse side of a primed canvas, the fine linen holds the pastel pigment. When the painting is finished I spray with several coats of conservation matt varnish until the pastel pigment has been literally converted to acrylic, and therefore negates the need for glass” The smaller size pastels are on glass board and glazed for protection.
